Apr. 16th, 2009

I'm staying at home today. I feel like I have a really bad flu. But things seem sort of... off, somehow. I don't think I can say it right. I think I just better stay in and get myself feeling better.

I hope anyone else who's feeling a little under the weather is resting, too...

Apr. 10th, 2009

I've been on the night shift for so long! Now that tonight is my last night I can barely sit still I'm so excited!

You see, on the one hand I love working in the evenings because our dinner dishes are so much fun to make - but on the other hand it means I never get to see my husband, who works through the day. And I don't know about all of you that have someone, but isn't it just nice to spend time with them when it gets dark? Night time feels like time with the person you love, for me, and so while I love my work, I love my home, too, and I can't wait to be home again!

I'll still be cooking, too - but I'll be cooking for Scott, and that's fun. I love making his favorite dishes and I love trying out new ideas on him, too. Mostly I like seeing him eat because when I first met him back at school he was the skinniest boy you ever saw, and while he hasn't got much more meat on his bones, I think it's safe to say that the meat he's got came from little old me.

Even better than switching shifts, I've actually handed over the Easter weekend reins so that I can be at home! I've made my own chocolate eggs and hand-painted some traditional ones to help with the egg hunt in the park, and I've made a stash for us at home, too! I love making desserts, and I love making chocolate casts. So much fun.

Tonight is going to be an exciting one! We're trialling all new dishes. They're not even all mine! One of my favorite chefs on staff is Derek, and he's so innovative and imaginative that I just can't wait for some of his new ideas to get out there on everyone's plates. We're not having a big fancy unveiling but we are doing some discounted testing with a tour group we have in, and I really can't wait to hear everyone's reactions. I'm so sure they're going to be good.

I'm going in a little early to make sure everything is running smoothly. Last time we almost had a disaster with wines that didn't complement the dish on offer, so I'm not going to have any slipups like that again! I'm going to be a busy little Kaylee-bee, buzzing around the kitchen. I'm going to make such a mess and get in everyone's way. It's a good thing that we all work well in the middle of our kitchen chaos.

Wow, I sure do talk a lot about work, don't I? I'm going to have to theme my entries. One can be about the lake, one can be about how I first met my husband, one can be about my childhood imaginary friend... oh, there are so many topics to choose from! I promise I won't get too repetitive.

Tonight, I'm not at the restaurant. Tonight I'm going to stay home and practice my massaging skills. I'm typing and flexing my fingers in preparation for it! See, my husband sometimes gets pretty bad headaches, so I like to help out around his head and neck. My fingers aren't just good in the kitchen, folks!

It's nice getting to know all these other people in town in this new way. I'll recognize even more faces when you all stop in at the restaurant, but who knows where else I might see a familiar face? It could be at the supermarket, it could be midtown, it could be at the dentist's office - it's exciting. I'm pretty talkative but even more than that I love talking with people, finding out all their stories and all about them. I like that now I'll be able to learn even more about even more people.

Gotta go, my fingers feel limbered up!

Has anyone else been seeing these cute glittery messages around town? There was one right by our house that said have a nice day; it was really sweet! It made my day just by looking at it. It's real pretty, the snow melting away and find happy, positive messages made out of glitter and chalk. It's like someone's wanting to everybody's day in such a different way!

I love it, and whoever you are, thank you!

My secret's out! I run the kitchen at the Hotel Serenity Restaurant. If you haven't been there before because it's in a hotel and not uptown, you should definitely try it! We're not only for guests and we have a fabulous menu. If you don't believe me, ask my Scott. He gets to taste most of the dishes before they even get close to those tables!

Hi!

Well, hi, everyone! I'm Kaylee and I'm pretty excited to be selected to join you all here. I wonder how they're choosing people, maybe I'm the token chef? Maybe I'm the only Frye! I guess I'll have to wait and see.

Introduction things, introductions... let me see! Well, like I said, I'm Kaylee. I'm 28, starting to get old, and I'm a certified chef cooking the best dessert (and meals, too!) you ever had at what I think might be the best restaurant in Harmony. Guess which one it is! I can't wait to find out everyone's tastes.

I grew up right here in Harmony, so chances are you might've known me when I was covered in braces or just really small! I love music and dancing and fireworks and the movies, and I love cars and bikes, especially when they go fast!

I love making new friends, too, hint hint!
